QUICK HITS
  • Tarleton has lost their last two games, their first stretch with consecutive losses this season. They are now 7-1 in games following a loss.
  • This is the first game of a three-game road trip for the Texans. It's tied for their longest road trip of the season, along with an unplanned three-game trip from Jan. 17-22 (Tarleton went 2-1).
  • Starting center Seynabou Thiam missed her first game of the season on Saturday due to a shoulder injury. She has averaged 7.5 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks this season. With 54 total blocks on the year, she needs four more to tie TSU's single-season blocks record.
  • In the last game, Lucy Benson secured the 500th rebound of her collegiate career, becoming the first Texan in their Division I era to reach the 500-rebound milestone.
  • Malaya Kendrick, one of Tarleton's best "do-it-all" players, has season totals of 206 points, 144 rebounds and 57 assists. • Jenna Dick – Dick has two 10+ point games over her last three, her most in a three-game stretch at Tarleton. She's made 12 three-pointers over her last five games, now shooting 32-of-71 (.451) from beyond the arc this year, the best three-point percentage in the WAC (14th in NCAA Division I).

NUMBERS TO KNOW

14: In the fourth quarter of Tarleton's last game, UTRGV had 12 free throw attempts compared to the Texans' 0. It was unusual for the purple and white, who average the FEWEST FOULS PER GAME in the conference (14.4 per).

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans will continue their three-game road trip but they get another break, not playing until Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at Abilene Christian. It will be their first of two games against their old rival Wildcats this season, a team that is 6-4 in the WAC, 14-7 overall.
