U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson will go back to work in Downing Street on Monday following his hospitalization earlier this month with Covid-19.
"He is 'raring to go' and will be back Monday," a Downing Street official told Sky News.
Johnson spent a few days in the hospital in early April after being diagnosed with Covid-19, including three nights in intensive care. He has since been convalescing at the prime minister's country residence Chequers. His illness raised fears that the government would be unable to take key decisions about easing lockdown measures without him at the helm.
The prime minister has been updated and briefed on the coronavirus situation since he was discharged from St. Thomas's Hospital on April 12. He held video calls with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who was tasked with deputizing for him.
Over the weekend, the coronavirus death toll for patients in hospitals in the U.K. passed 20,000.
