Bernie Sanders promises to back Joe Biden 'if he wins the nomination' - New York Post

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders said at Arizona rally Thursday night that he would back his top rival Joe Biden if the former vice president becomes the party’s nominee.

“Joe Biden is a decent guy, and I know if he wins the nomination, I will be there for him, and if I win, he will be there for me,” Sanders told thousands of supporters at the Arizona state fairgrounds.

The progressive Vermont senator and Biden are essentially locked in a two-man race after Sen. Elizabeth Warren suspended her campaign earlier Thursday.

Of the two, Biden holds the delegate lead after his South Carolina primary win and a dominant performance on Super Tuesday.

Despite the showing of solidarity should Biden win, Sanders at his rally railed against the former vice president for taking campaign money from billionaires and supporting the 2003 Iraq war.

“This is a campaign of the working class, by the working class and for the working class,” he said.
