The tribute — a luncheon with entertainment provided by many show business personalities — was estimated to have raised at least $15,000 for the Variety Club, which operates a school for children with learning disabilities.

    David Dargie inspects his pride and joy — a working scale model of a sugar mill crushing plant valued at $10,000. Dargie spent 35 years making the model from plans for a real mill. Dargie will give the model to the Hawaiian Sugar Planters’ Association.
