A 4-month-old infant found unresponsive in a Harvard home early Friday morning later died at the hospital, police said.
The Harvard Police Department and Harvard Fire Protection District responded around 4:59 a.m. Friday to a residence in the 300 block of Finney Street for a report of an unresponsive infant.
Officers arrived first and found a 4-month-old baby girl who was not conscious and not breathing, according to Harvard Deputy Police Chief Tyson Bauman.
The officers began conducting CPR and turned over medical care to paramedics who then arrived.
An ambulance from the Harvard Fire Protection District transported the infant to Mercy Harvard Hospital. The infant later died at the hospital.
Bauman told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the girl’s death is not considered suspicious; however, police continue to investigate.
The incident remains under investigation by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office and Harvard Police Department. A cause of death was not immediately known.
