The new book from 'March' co-creator Nate Powell will be released in 2021.

Nate Powell is one of the most important cartoonists of his generation. A recipient of multiple Eisner Awards, the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award and the Michael L. Printz Award — among many others — his canon includes such definitive works as Any Empire, The Silence of Our Friends and the March series. His new project, Save It for Later, is due early next year, and The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive first look at the book’s cover artwork.

The book collects seven connected comic strip essays in which Powell — who collaborated with the late Rep. John Lewis on his three-volume graphic memoir, March — explores the past four years from both a personal and political viewpoint, discussing the role we play in our communities, the need for protest and the difficulty of raising his children in these increasingly trying times.

Six of the seven essays in Save It for Later are previously unpublished and created especially for the book, including one intended to put the events of this year into a larger context; the book also includes “About Face,” his acclaimed essay for Popula Online exploring the iconography of military force in popular culture, especially that originally intended for kids, including Marvel’s Punisher.

Save It for Later will be published April 2021. The cover for the book makes its debut below, as well as Powell’s preparatory sketches for the image.
