Increasing sunshine today
High pressure remains planted just to our north and will continue to keep our weather generally tranquil for the midweek. Clouds in the area will slowly clear off during the morning hours with afternoon sunshine working to warm temperatures to the upper single digits and lower teens which would make this the warmest day of the week and the warmest day since last Thursday. Wind chill values will reach the single digits below zero with a fairly light northwest breeze.
Thursday snow
A weak storm system will slide into the area from the west Thursday, bringing a chance for light snow starting late in the morning and then winding down in the early evening. Snowfall accumulation of about an inch is expected across the area. High temperatures tomorrow will be around zero with a brisk north breeze that will keep wind chill levels in the teens below zero for the most part.
Another snow chance Friday into Saturday
We'll have a few breaks in the clouds early Friday before another storm system from the west bringing thicker clouds and another chance for light snow starting late in the afternoon and early evening hours. Expect an inch or two of snowfall accumulation Friday night and early Saturday before sunshine returns later in the day. High temperatures Friday will be around zero with wind chill values in the teens below zero.
We'll likely stay below zero for both Saturday and Sunday as another area of Arctic high pressure moves in from the northwest, bringing bright, frigid weather to the region. High temperatures will be a couple of degrees below zero with overnight lows in the teens below zero. Wind chill values will be in the -20 to -30 range throughout the weekend.
Slightly warmer next week
We'll start next week with bright, bitterly cold weather with high temperatures in the single digits above zero. A weak storm system will move in for Wednesday, bringing a chance for a minor coating of light snow. High temperatures will be in the teens Wednesday with drier, sunnier weather beyond that and more of those slightly warmer teens in the area.
