SERIES INFORMATION
Series: Third Meeting (2-0)
Date: 11/28/20
Current Streak: W2
Minnesota vs. West Coast Conference: 8-2
STARTING FIVE
• Coach Pitino utilized a starting lineup Saturday of redshirt senior forward Eric Curry (second start this season, 8th career start), junior center Liam Robbins (second start at Minnesota, 38th career start), redshirt junior guard Marcus Carr (second start this season, 33rd start at Minnesota, 60th career start), junior guard Gabe Kalscheur (second start this season, 69th career start), and junior guard Both Gach (second start at Minnesota, 41st career start).
• Marcus Carr led all scorers Saturday with 28 points after torching the nets for 22 in the first half. He added a game high eight assists and a pair of rebounds in 37 minutes. Carr, who tied his career-high with 35 points in the season opener, has scored in double-figures 26 times, including in 11 of the past 12 games.
• The Gophers combined to make 8-of-15 (.533) attempts from long-distance. Marcus Carr led the way from three-point range by making 3-of-6 treys, while Both Gach (2-of-4) and Liam Robbins (2-of-2) each had a pair of threes. Minnesota was much more selective from beyond the arc tonight, as the Gophers had gone 7-of-34 in Wednesday's season-opening win against Green Bay.
• Both Gach showed his versatility, as he connected on 6-of-12 field goals (2-of-4 3FG) to finish with 17 points to go with six rebounds, six assists and three steals in 34 minutes. A transfer from the University of Utah, Gach had 14 points, five boards and four assists versus Green Bay.
• Monday's tilt will be the first time each team played consecutive opponents during the regular season. It marks the first time Minnesota will face the same opponent in back-to-back games since 2014. The Golden Gophers ended the 2014 Big Ten regular season against Penn State (March 9, 2014) and opened the Big Ten Tournament also against the Nittany Lions (March 13, 2014). Both contests resulted in Minnesota wins, 81-63 and 63-56, respectively.
UP NEXT
• Minnesota hosts North Dakota, Dec. 4 at Williams Arena. It marks the second-straight year the Fighting Hawks will visit Williams Arena. Last year, the Gophers won, 79-56 on Nov. 24, 2019.
• Big Ten Network will broadcast the game live with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m.
