Very humid, storms likely later Sunday - WAOW

sumurbelakang.blogspot.com

Parts of the viewing area picked up a nice soaking of rain Saturday morning to midday with areas of thunderstorms. In fact about .50 to 1.0 inch was reported in much of the area north of Marathon County with a trace to .50 inch elsewhere. Now of course the rather humid air is moving in with dew points climbing into the upper 60s and low 70s for the rest of the weekend.

It should be partly or mostly cloudy Saturday night with lows in the upper 60s. There is a small chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Winds will be from the south around 5 mph. Sunday should bring a few breaks of sunshine. It will be rather warm and sticky with highs in the middle 80s. Winds will be from the south at 10-15 mph. There is a 30% chance of a scattered shower or thunderstorm during the day. The chance of storms increases to about 60% by evening as a cold front approaches. Some of the storms may be strong to severe with gusty winds and torrential rain the main threats. Stay tuned for updates on that situation please!

Any leftover showers will end Monday morning then it should turn partly sunny later and gradually less humid. Lows will be around 67 with highs around 79 degrees. Tuesday should continue the nice streak with plenty of sunshine along with lows in the mid 50s and highs around 80 degrees.

Wednesday and Thursday should be partly sunny and fairly seasonal. There is a slight chance of a shower around the area with some weak disturbances nearby. However most of the time it will probably be dry.

It looks like it will turn warmer and more humid come next Friday and Saturday with highs surging into the mid 80s. Partly sunny skies should continue but a stray shower or thunderstorm is again possible.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Meteorologist Tony Schumacher, 2:50 p.m., 8-August 2020
