Coyotes back home for Denver - University of South Dakota Athletics

The Game
The Coyotes are back in action inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center for the first time since Dec. 22. South Dakota hosts Denver Thursday night for their first home game of the new year.

The game will be televised by Midco Sports with commentary from Jay Elsen and Brad Newitt. That broadcast will also be streamed on ESPN+ and Midco Sports Plus. Fans can tune into the game on the Coyote Sports Network with John Thayer, carried on KVHT 106.3 FM in Yankton/Vermillion or by using The Varsity Network app.

The Series
USD holds a 13-8 series advantage over Denver with the Coyotes claiming the last seven contests and 10 of the last 11. South Dakota has won the last six matchups in Vermillion.

The Coyotes
South Dakota is coming off its first conference victory of the season in a rescheduled matchup against North Dakota. Led by 19 points each from Mason Archambault and Kruz Perrott-Hunt, the Coyotes held off the Fighting Hawks for a 75-68 decision. Career highs from Hunter Goodrick in rebounds (19) and Boogie Anderson in points (14) also helped USD secure its first true road win of the season.

USD stands 8-7 overall and 1-3 in Summit league play. Kruz Perrott-Hunt (13.8 ppg) and Mason Archambault (12.9 ppg) are the scoring leaders. Archambault also leads the conference in steals with 1.5 steals per game.

The Pioneers
Denver (6-12) has shrugged off a slow start to the Jeff Wulbrun era by starting 2-3 inside the Summit with wins against St. Thomas and North Dakota, and an overtime loss against Western Illinois. Wulbrun came to Denver after serving on the bench at Stanford the last five seasons. He has helped guide three different collegiate programs to the NCAA tournament in California, Illinois State and UAB.

Wulbrun added transfer guard KJ Hunt Jr., who leads the Pioneers in points (15.9 ppg), rebounds (4.6 rpg) and assists (3.3 apg). Hunt has played at College of Central Florida, McNeese State, Morehead State, and now Denver. Community college transfer Jordan Johnson also averages double-digit points.

One Last Thing
Both teams are in the midst of three games in six days. The Coyotes played at North Dakota Monday before hosting Denver on Thursday and Omaha on Saturday. The Pioneers fell to North Dakota State in Denver before traveling to Vermillion Thursday and then Brookings for South Dakota State Saturday.
