RICHMOND, Ky. –

Eastern Kentucky overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat Lipscomb, 3-2, on Friday at McBrayer Arena.
 
EKU won by scores of 15-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 15-8.
 
Molly Michalak led all players with 17 kills.  She made just two errors for a .294 attack percentage.  Michalak recorded her 500th career kill during the match. 
 
Anna Purichia had 14 kills and a .333 attack percentage.  Kali Walker contributed nine kills and hit .300.  Audrey Eurton finished with 47 assists and five kills in nine attacks.  Sydney Schoen posted a match-best 26 digs.
 
The match changed with a 10-2 Colonel run in the third set.  Trailing 10-8, Eastern Kentucky scored three straight to get it started.  A service ace from Miya Carmichael followed by three straight Lipscomb attack errors capped the run and put the home team in front 18-12.  EKU cruised to a 25-20 win to stay alive.
 
The Bisons scored two of the first three in the fourth set to grab an early 2-1 lead, but the Colonels scored four unanswered and never trailed again.  Lipscomb stayed close throughout, and drew within one at 20-19, 21-20, 22-21, 23-22 and 24-23.  Each time EKU had the answer, including a kill from Purichia to finish the set, 25-23, and tie the match 2-2.
 
The Colonels (8-20, 5-9 ASUN) scored the first five points of the fifth and never looked back.  A kill from Michalak made it 6-1.  An ace from Josie Schmitendorf put EKU in front 11-5.  A kill by Walker ended it, 15-8.
 
Lipscomb (11-12, 8-5 ASUN) had 12 more kills than Eastern Kentucky, 69-57, but the Colonels out-hit the visitors .284 to .254.  The Bisons served 10 errors, while EKU had just one service error.
 
Meg Mersman led four Bisons in double figures with 14 kills to go along with a .414 hitting percentage.
 
EKU will face Central Arkansas on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET at McBrayer Arena.  The match will air live on ESPN+.
