BATTLING IN THE BAHAMAS
Down a number of starters and key contributors, Oregon went 1-2 in the Battle 4 Atlantis, beating Oklahoma in the opening round before falling to No. 1 South Carolina and then-No. 23 South Florida. The Ducks began the tournament with a comeback victory over the Sooners, winning 98-93 behind 30 points and 11 rebounds from Nyara Sabally. Oregon erased a 10-point deficit with seven minutes to play in the fourth quarter, outscoring Oklahoma 38-26 in the final period. Sabally missed the final two games of the tournament, meaning the Ducks had just eight players suited up for the games against South Carolina and South Florida.
DUCKS HAVE DEPTH
Oregon's depth has been put to the test through the first five games, as a number of players have played extended minutes due to the absence of several starters and key role players. The Ducks are averaging 20.2 points per game off the bench, while four players are averaging double figures in scoring and nine of the 11 that have seen action this year are scoring at least seven points per game. Just eight Ducks have played in all five games this season while the other three who have taken the floor have played in no more than two games. Ahlise Hurst leads the way among those who have played in every game with 12.4 PPG while Sedona Prince (12.0 PPG) and Sydney Parrish (11.6 PPG) also average double figures.
FINISHING STRONG
Over the first five games, Oregon has finished games strong owning a 118-77 (23.6-15.4 PPG) scoring advantage in the fourth quarter. The Ducks have won the final period in four of the five games, and are outscoring teams by an average of 8.2 points per game in the fourth. In the win over Oklahoma on Nov. 20, the Ducks set a program record for points in a fourth quarter, outscoring the Sooners 38-26.
GOING HARD IN THE PAINT
Oregon has controlled the paint over the first five games of the season, outscoring opponents 194-106 inside. The Ducks, who have four players listed at 6-foot-4 and above, are averaging 38.8 PPG inside while giving up just 21.2 points per contest in the painted area. Oregon is scoring 48.7 percent of its points in the paint while just 33.9 percent of the points the Ducks have allowed have come inside.
COMEBACK KIDS
Trailing by 10 with just over seven minutes left in the game, Oregon came storming back to knock off Oklahoma, 98-93, in the opening round of the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Ducks outscored the Sooners 38-26 in the final quarter, highlighted by a 10-0 run to tie things up at 78. A number of players made clutch plays down the stretch, led by Nyara Sabally who scored 20 of her career-high 30 points after halftime. She also grabbed 11 rebounds to post her fifth career double-double. Chanaya Pinto hit a three-pointer to tie the game up at 84 while Sabally and Ahlise Hurst each made layups late in the game to put the Ducks in front for good.
