A woman who was critically hurt in a deadly rampage last month in North Bend has died, upping the death toll from the attacks to four.
Linda Oyster, 73, succumbed to her injuries Friday at Riverbend Hospital in Springfield. She’s one of four people who authorities say were killed by Oen Nicholson, a Coos County man accused of later kidnapping a woman and forcing her to drive him to Wisconsin.
Coos County District Attorney Paul Frazier said he plans to file charges against Nicholson in Oyster’s death. Nicholson already faces 10 charges, including multiple counts of first-degree murder.
Frazier previously said Nicholson, 30, was fighting extradition and trying to stay in Wisconsin. As of Friday, Nicholson had not been returned to Oregon, Frazier said.
Oyster and her husband, Anthony Oyster, were staying at the Mill Casino’s RV park when Nicholson drove a pickup truck through the park and struck them June 18, according to Frazier. Anthony Oyster died at the scene, and Linda Oyster was taken to the hospital.
Nicholson then went to a nearby marijuana dispensary and fatally shot Coos Bay resident Jennifer Davidson, 47, who was working there, according to Frazier.
He fled east on Oregon 126 in a truck that was registered to his father, Charles Simms Nicholson, 83, Frazier said. Investigators later found the elder Nicholson dead in a trailer at the same RV park where his son is accused of running over the Oysters, who lived in Florida.
Nicholson abandoned the truck and set it on fire on the side of the highway near the community of Noti, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office. A search for Nicholson was unsuccessful.
He later kidnapped a woman from the parking lot of a Springfield Cabela’s store while she was on her lunch break and forced her to drive him to Wisconsin, police said.
He turned himself into authorities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
