The Tri-State is slowly getting back to normal which means many of the COVID-19 policies set into place have now ended.
A major policy, mask-wearing.
As cases rise, and more COVID variant cases are reported in the state, this may become mandatory again. A possibility Evansville resident, Julie Abushalbuck, doesn't look forward to.
"I would not be thrilled," said Abushalbuck.
On Friday morning Indiana State Health Commissioner, Dr. Kristina Box, and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Lindsay Weaver, gave updates on COVID-19 within the state during a virtual meeting stating that Indiana's positivity rate dropped as low as 2.1% in late June and has crept back up in July, now standing at 3.2%.
With this new data being reported, Evansville resident, Tom Schlitt, feels there are other ways around staying protected from the virus and feels safer without it.
"In the Bible, it says 365 times do not fear, that's one for every day and I believe that masks are a way of bringing fear about the population." said Schlitt.
Although people have varying opinions on possibly reverting back to the mask mandate, they'll still do what it takes to stay safe and healthy.
"No one likes wearing masks but if everybody is starting to get sick again, then I would obviously wear it and encourage kids to wear it because that's the only way to help prevent not getting it or spreading COVID." said Abushalbuck.
