PEORIA (HOI) -- As hundreds continue flood cleanup in McLean County, a Peoria woman said she had been dealing with a similar issue for a month, despite calls to her landlord for help.

"There's just water pouring out from our ceiling, the light fixtures," said Peoria renter, Lynnette Melendez.

Videos show Melendez's apartment flooding at Timberlane Apartments in the beginning of June.

"It's now been weeks and nothing has been done," said Melendez.

Since then, she said property managers have only cleaned the carpet and ripped a hole into the ceiling, despite multiple calls to management.

"Why does it seem like such an inconvenience? We're inconvenienced. We can't live in peace. We're living out of bags right now," said Melendez.

Melendez has not been able to live there because of it. The smell of mold can be smelled upon entering her apartment.

"It is just awful, when you come in it hits you," said Melendez.

She said property managers told her she would have to wait until mid-July for someone to fix it.

"Why do I have to wait that long? Why, why? We're out of a home," said Melendez.

Although, Melendez was not alone waiting for a property fix.

Last week we spoke with East Bluff renter, Nichole Pace, her apartment has mold, ceilings caving in and the recent rain was making her flooding problem worse.

"Enough is enough. My walls are falling in around me. This isn't a home no more," said Pace.

Since then, she said her landlord, Jeff Cohen, came out to fix some of the issues. But she said ceiling tiles were still missing and leaks had continued.

Cohen had not gotten back to Heart of Illinois ABC despite multiple calls.

For Melendez, she said wants to see the apartment fixed so she can get back to living in her home.

"We can't live this way," Melendez continued, "It has been a nightmare."

Both renters said they were up to date on rent payments, but neither have it in writing saying they do not have to pay rent this month.

Timberlane Apartments had not responded to multiple attempts to reach them about the issues.
