The stars of “Back to the Future,” the beloved and miraculously un-rebooted 1985 teenage time travel film, will gather at this year’s Emerald City Comic Con to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the beloved pop culture phenomenon.
The film’s stars — Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Tom Wilson — will appear during the March 12-15 convention and a separate ticketed after-hours panel on Saturday, March 14. They’ll discuss the Robert Zemeckis film, sign autographs and pose for photos with fans at the Washington State Convention Center, according to ECCC.
“Back to the Future” tells the story of Marty McFly (Fox), a teenager from 1985 who’s transported back to 1955 in a time-travelling DeLorean built by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown (Lloyd). There he meets his own parents and must unravel the complicated time-travel paradox problems he creates when he discovers his now-teenage mother (Thompson) has the hots for him. Wilson plays the role of bully Biff, the film’s fall-guy villain.
The success of “Back to the Future,” 1985’s top-earning film, spawned two sequels and a legion of copy cats. The film’s influence has spread as children of the ‘80s have grown up. Creators of “Rick and Morty,” “Stranger Things” and “Ready Player One,” among many others, all pay homage to the trilogy.
Day passes for Thursday ($30) and Friday and Sunday ($45) are available at emeraldcitycomiccon.com. Saturday and four-days passes are sold out. Tickets (starting at $20) for the Saturday night “Back to the Future” panel go on sale Feb. 6 on the website.
