MIAMI — It’s a good thing the Yankees dealt for starting pitching depth a few minutes before Friday’s 4 p.m., trade deadline.

They’ll need it ASAP with right-hander Domingo German being placed on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation before Sunday’s Yankees-Marlins game.

This injury is a big surprise because German said he “felt phenomenal out there” Saturday night after his two-run, four-inning outing.

With German on the injured list, Nestor Cortes will return to the Yankees’ rotation before he ever loses a turn. The lefty had been headed for a long relief role due to the Yankees trading for left-hander Andrew Heaney on Friday.

Heaney, who was 6-7 with a 5.27 ERA in 18 starts this year with the Los Angeles Angels, is slated to make his Yankees debut on Monday night at Yankee Stadium against the Baltimore Orioles.

German threw only 66 pitches in his start on Saturday before being pulled for a pinch-hitter in the fifth inning of a 2-2 game with two outs and the bases loaded.

The Yanks scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch while Gio Urshela was batting for German. The Yankees went on to win 4-2.

The Yankees recalled right-hander Albert Abreu to replace German on the 26-man roster.

German, 28, is 4-5 with a 4.45 ERA this season in 21 outings, 18 as a starter. He took a no-hitter into the eighth inning last Sunday in Boston, but the Red Sox rallied from a 4-0 deficit that inning to score five runs and pulled out a 5-4 win.
