A member of Tennessee’s backfield entered the transfer portal on Sunday. Tee Hodge, a former star at nearby Maryville High School, has made the decision to explore his options elsewhere.
Hodge is a redshirt freshman at Tennessee and was battling for playing time this offseason. Following the departures of Eric Gray and Ty Chandler, the door was open for Hodge to move up the depth chart. However, it’s been Jabari Small and Tiyon Evans stealing the headlines to this point, with Jaylen Wright making some legitimate noise as the potential third back in the rotation.
With Len’Neth Whitehead and Dee Beckwith also factoring into the equation, Hodge has opted to leave in search of a better opportunity. The former three-star prospect appeared in just one game during his time with Tennessee.
He was officially removed from the roster on Sunday afternoon. Hodge would still have four years of eligibility remaining for his next school. He’s the second player to enter the transfer portal since fall practices began, joining quarterback Brian Maurer.
Tennessee currently has one running back committed to next year’s class — three-star prospect Dylan Sampson.
