WINTER STORM WARNINGS and WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES are in effect later this afternoon through Tuesday morning for most of eastern Iowa.

Today: The sky becomes cloudy. Your morning commute will have no issues. Snow does not move in until later this afternoon and evening, from south to north. Temperatures range from the lower 20s north to near 30° south. As the low pressure to our south strengthens, the wind will becomes NE 15-25 mph, gusting up to 35 mph at times.
Tonight: This is when most of the accumulating snow will fall. Heavy snow is possible at times, especially south of Highway 20. Windy conditions will reduce visibility at times, and some of the snow could blow around, especially in rural areas. Temperatures will be in the teens and low 20s with a northeast wind 15-25 mph. Travel will be hazardous.
Tuesday: Lingering snow showers in the morning will come to an end. Plan extra time for your morning commute as roads will be snow covered. It will be breezy at times throughout the day with a north/northeast wind 10-20 mph. Highs will be in the 20s.
SNOW TOTALS: A wide range expected across the KWWL viewing area by the time all is said and done Tuesday. Little to no snow expected near the Iowa/Minnesota stateline, to as much as 6-10" near and south of Highway 30. Locally higher amounts up to 12" can't be ruled out. The snow starts out wet, but becomes a bit more fluffy as temperatures drop later tonight.
Wednesday: A weak disturbance brings the next chance of light snow with accumulations less than an inch.
It will be cold through Thursday, before a warm up Friday into the weekend.
