FIRST ALERT: Light Snow Today, A Much Bigger Storm Later This Week - NBC Connecticut

NBC Connecticut meteorologists have issued two First Alerts for snow chances this week.

The first round will taper off this afternoon. Minor accumulations, especially on grassy surfaces, won't cause too much trouble. Most towns will pick up a coating to a slushy inch.

Much colder air will settle into the northeast tomorrow. That cold air will set the stage for the next storm to arrive later Wednesday into Thursday.

A powerful coastal storm will develop and move up the coast Wednesday night. At this time, exact details are still being worked out, however, the chance for heavy snow is increasing. We can also expect strong wind and possibly coastal flooding.

Track possibilities for Wed/Thu: Euro which has a classic track with 12"+ snowfall and the GFS which results in the storm tracking further south as a result of an area of high pressure to our north meaning less snow. Still a ton to figure out. #nbcct pic.twitter.com/VedkSJYaXX
