Lost Hibbing man later found safe in Makinen - Duluth News Tribune

A lost Hibbing man was found by the St. Louis County Rescue Squad in the woods off the Whiteface Truck Trail in Makinen near the Whiteface Reservoir.

At approximately 5:30 p.m on Saturday., Eric J. Sanders, 33, had been riding an ATV with a large group when he reportedly walked away from his ATV and into the woods, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office. Members of the group searched for him but were unsuccessful in locating him.

By 7:30 p.m. the sheriff's office, rescue squad, Eveleth Police Department K-9 unit and Minnesota State Patrol Airwing unit responded to the scene and conducted a search through the woods in near his ATV. Sanders was found uninjured by members of the rescue squad around 10:50 p.m., walking down a logging road about 4 1/2 miles east of his ATV. He was transported home to his family.
