The Lincoln Road Business Improvement District (BID) then convinced two popular local food vendors – El Bagel and The Salty – to set up trailers on the weekends for a pilot program. When it ended, the response was so good, The Salty decided to stay. Their specialty donuts and coffee are available from a vintage-look camper at Meridian and Lincoln every Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 4.
Now, three more local food artisans will return on Sundays following a successful appearance at the artisan food market co-sponsored with the South Beach Wine and Food Festival. The market was launched to help local food artisans recover from the impact of the pandemic. The once-a-month event month began in January and will conclude with the April 25th market.
Naan Indian Eats, Bagel Balls, and The Dumpling Lady Miami were big hits at the March market and will now get a one month run every Sunday starting April 11 through Mother’s Day on May 9. The popups will appear at the Euclid Oval from 10 am until 2 pm.
Lyle Stern, Vice President of the Lincoln Road BID and President of Koniver Stern Group, cooked up the artisan food market idea with SOBEWFF founder Lee Schrager as a way to highlight Lincoln Road, local food vendors, and the COVID-delayed 20th anniversary of the SOBEWFF in May. Miami’s most popular food influencers select the monthly vendors.
Stern said with the popups, the BID wanted “vendors who we think have a wonderful, local product, who we believe will do well on Lincoln Road, and that have expressed interest in being a part of our community.”
Stay tuned. There could be more coming. “Miami Beach residents and visitors to Lincoln Road are responding extremely well to this program,” Stern said. “We’d love to continue bringing amazing brands to Lincoln Road and giving new and up-and-coming artisans opportunities to put their business in front of all the pedestrians along Lincoln Road.”
