Week 6 is a brutal one for running back byes. The Saints, Raiders, Chargers, and Seahawks are all going to be off this week, and that means Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray, Josh Jacobs, Joshua Kelley, Justin Jackson, and Chris Carson will all be unavailable. Kamara, Jacobs, and Carson have been top-15 staples in our fantasy RB rankings so far this year, and without them -- as well as some of the other flex sleepers who will be out this week -- owners will have to make some tough lineup decisions.
The good news is that Aaron Jones and the Lions' trio of Adrian Peterson, D'Andre Swift, and Kerryon Johnson will be returning to action. Also, a couple of committee backfields in New England (Damien Harris, James White, and Rex Burkhead) and Denver (Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay) will all be back, as well. That helps out these rankings that are otherwise decimated by byes and injuries.
WEEK 6 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
With that said, there will be plenty of risers out of necessity this week. David Montgomery (@ Panthers), David Johnson (@ Titans), and Kenyan Drake (@ Cowboys) are all facing beatable run defenses in road games, so they will have a chance to work their way into the RB1 range. Meanwhile, Antonio Gibson (@ Giants) and Peterson (@ Jaguars) could also rise thanks to strong matchups, putting both in the top 25.
WEEK 6 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
Another player to watch as a potential top-25 play is Myles Gaskin. The Dolphins second-year back continues to lead their backfield, and he had a solid game against the 49ers that included a TD. Gaskin will get a chance to play the Jets thanks to a re-shuffled schedule, so he should have a chance to put up some solid numbers in a weak matchup. The fact that he got a TD on the goal line with TD-vulture Jordan Howard benched is a good sign going forward.
Fantasy owners should get value from from a frustrating committee this week, as the Bills tandem of Devin Singletary and Zack Moss have favorable matchups against Kansas City. It's tough for both to have big games at the same time, but if it was ever going to happen, it would be this week.
Reminder: As always, we expect to make plenty of changes to these RB rankings throughout the week, so check back for updates.
