Men's Golf One Shot Back of Lead at Maridoe - BaylorBears.com

THE RUNDOWN 
CARROLLTON, Texas – Baylor men's golf carded 6-over-par 294 in Monday's second round at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational, falling to one shot back of the lead with a 36-hole total of 17-over 593. BU entered the day with a one-shot lead and posted the second-best score of the round, but Oklahoma State's even-par 288 moved them up from fifth to first place.
 
Baylor (+17) enters Tuesday's final round one shot back of OSU (+16). The Bears lead Pepperdine (+20), Texas (+21), North Texas (+22), Kansas (+26), Oklahoma (+29), Texas Tech (+31), Iowa State (+45), Coastal Carolina (+51), TCU (+54) and East Tennessee State (+56).
 
Baylor's best round of the day again came from Ryan Grider, who closed his front-9 with four consecutive birdies and finished with a 2-under 70, which tied the fourth-best round across the field on Monday. Grider is tied for third place individually at even-par 144, four shots back of Kansas' Luke Kluver (-4) and two back of Texas Tech's Kyle Hogan (-2).
 
Cooper Dossey carded four birdies on his way to a 2-over 74, which has him tied for 18th place at 5-over 149 through two rounds. Colin Kober and Johnny Keefer both shot 3-over 75 to give the Bears their final counting scores, with Keefer moving into a tie for 22nd place at 6-over 150 and Kober tied for 25th place at 7-over 151. Travis McInroe shot 10-over 82 and is tied for 39th place, while Brandon Hoff, who is competing as an individual, trimmed four shots off his first-round score with a 5-over 77 to move into a tie for 51st place at 14-over 158.

  • Baylor is tied for second in par-3 scoring at 5-over 3.13, tied for second in par-4 scoring at 27-over 4.27 and tied for second in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.90.
  • Baylor leads the tournament with 112 pars through two rounds.

  • Grider is tied for sixth with seven birdies, while Dossey and Keefer have five birdies apiece and Kober, McInroe and Hoff all have four birdies.

4-under – Baylor's counting scores combined to shoot 4-under on the 357-yard, par-4 sixth hole. All four players made birdie on the hole, and Baylor is 6-under on the sixth hole through two rounds.
